Xinghuo Yu

Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor

  • Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor at RMIT
  • President at IEEE Industrial Electronics Society

Professor Xinghuo Yu said that he was fortunate to witness the great changes in society. “Knowledge is only the cornerstone, and the individual’s ability to learn is the key to success.” When we are immersed in the myth of “how to choose a university or research major”, Professor Yu put forward a new interpretation: compared with the refined academic knowledge, the cross-disciplinary talents who can be good at optimizing learning ability are way more important.

He received the 2018 Australasian Artificial Intelligence Distinguished Research Contribution Award from Australian Computer Society, the 2018 M A Sargent Medal from Engineers Australia, the 2013 Dr.-Ing. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award from IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and many other awards for his contributions. He has been named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) since 2015. He specialises in control systems engineering, artificial intelligence and engineering applications, smart grids and future energy systems.
